1967 CHEVELLE MALIBU

Original 283 CI with some mods, 4 speed manual transmission

I took the family on a Florida vacation in January 2019. I had always wanted to got the Mecum Auction in Kissimme Florida and this was the perfect time. While walking around looking at the cars, with no intention of bidding on anything, my son-in-law pointed out a car and commented on the paint. I had him look closer and showed him the orange peel. We later walked by this Chevelle and I showed him how much cleaner the paint was. I then noticed how clean the interior was. And then I noticed it was a 4 speed, and it was red, and, and, and.... The next day, it crossed the block and as with the Corvette, I set a number. The bidding started slow so I jumped in. Now that I had done this before, I was a pro. I was calm and played the game. Finally the bidding stalled and it was below the number I set, but it had not met reserve. The bidder assistant came to me and said we will use the Mecum rule. If you raise your bid $1000, the car is yours and nobody else can bid. That just happened to be the number I set before bidding started, so I nodded yes and the car was mine.

The paint is very nice, but has a couple small spots. It shows very well and has won a few awards.

The interior is perfect.

I replace the 5 spoke wheels with a set of 15" rally's

The engine has several oil leaks, so I pulled it and replaced all gaskets, oil pump, timing chain and gave it a fresh coat of paint

While it was out, I had the transmission rebuilt and cleaned

What do you do with a 4 speed? I just can't help it.
