1968 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE
350 CI, 4 barrel Rochester carburetor, 4 Speed transmission, Hooker headers and side pipes
Back in the mi 80's, I bought a 68 Corvette convertible with a 327/350 HP 4 speed. It was a basket case, but I worked on it for 6 years, and eventually made a fun car out of it. After a rear wheel came off and shattered the body, I sold it in 2001. After buying the 69 Buick and finding an 89 Formula, I set my sights on a 68 corvette.
A Daytona Yellow 68 Corvette convertible with a 350 / 4 speed and Hooker headers and side pipes came up for sale at the Mecum Auction in Chicago, I showed it to my wife. She said "go get it". I love her!
I drove to Chicago the next morning and bought my next car. That was my first auction purchase and it is hard to not get caught up in the excitement. I set my limit and that is exactly what I paid.
Matching hard top is a bonus
Complete interior, but not perfect
A clean engine bay with factory air.
It was not big surprise that the suspension was old and needed to be replaced, so I replaced every bushing, ball joint, tie rod, spring and shock.
I added power steering
I replace the calipers, rotors and added power brakes.
I still have a few electrical and vacuum issues to resolve, but she is a fun car to drive
Those side pipes sound awesome, but you have to be careful getting out when they are hot.
