JUNE 2021 RESTORATION COMPLETE
I cannot thank my wife Stacie enough for her support throughout this entire process. She didn't understand why it was so important for me to find the car, but she supported me anyway. She kept me fed and checked to make sure I was ok when I was working long hours in the garage. After seeing the smile on my face as I drive the car and show it, I think she gets it now.
I kept the original keys on the Rodgers Pontiac keychain when I sold the car in 1994
I also kept the license plates from 1989. They had been hanging in my garage until the DMV allowed me to register them on the car again as historical
I installed these Nationwise Auto Parts splash guards in 1989. All 4 were still in tact and installed on the car when I found it in 2020. They are now hanging in my garage.
The original leather shift knob had been replaced with a Dale Jr ball, but the leather knob was preserved in the console and is now back in the car.
I pulled the original 80's cassettes from the basement. Foreigner was, and still is, my jam!
The goal for the restoration was to have her finished by Father's Day, so she could be unveiled at our Second annual Father's Day Cruise In June 19, 2021.
We lined up all the cars, invited our friends, and had a party in the driveway.
I opened the door with Foreigner playing "Waiting for a Girl Like You" on the Bose dock.
To say this was an emotional moment for me, would be the understatement of the century, but I managed to hold back the tears while I pulled the car out of the garage.
I didn't have a plan after pulling out of the garage, so I just parked in the middle of nowhere.
A few friends brought their cars to make it a show
Sharing this day with friends and family made this Father's Day absolutely Priceless!!
